It’s exciting and humbling to be listed as a 2022 Best Workplace. The collective experience of the past two years has left a lasting imprint, fundamentally changing how we define the role of work in our lives. What employees want from work and what they’re willing to give has changed.
Among job seekers, culture and purpose are leading the way. According to Microsoft Work Trends, when asked what they’re looking for in a job right now, 46% of employees cited positive culture while 40% are looking for a sense of purpose or meaning. This is supported by our research, what we’re hearing in the field and our own experiences within Habanero.
We know that remote and hybrid work have significantly impacted relationships. As a result, people have lost some of their connection to their organization’s purpose. We believe it doesn’t have to be this way.
“With a strong culture, healthy norms, and the right technology, organizations can allow individuals to build their own hybrid model that works for them and their team,” says Habanero President Steven Fitzgerald. “But it all has to start with organizations understanding what’s really happening with their people.”
Like most organizations, we are transitioning to office mode, opening up spaces to work and gather safely again. Doing this right starts with deep empathy for our people, earned through active listening and meaningful conversations that surface insights we can use to co-create new ways of working together.
Lucky for us, this is exactly the kind of work that we’re passionate about and we’re thrilled to be able to continue to practice it every day together as we redefine our workplace.
